Abstract
La afectividad pareciera ser un elemento psicosocial relegado de la masculinidad. Es como si ser hombre y ser afectivo fueran características antagónicas dentro de un mismo individuo. La cultura, familia, redes de apoyo, socialización y las etapas de transición como el climaterio provocan una constante regeneración de la afectividad. No debe dejarse de lado el punto de apoyo más importante en la vida del individuo, independientemente de su edad, es la familia, ya que en etapas de climaterio y vejez cobra especial importancia debido a que es la red primaria de socialización y aprendizaje del individuo; o bien podría argumentarse que es la “matriz” de donde se parte y a la cual se retoma, cual “hijo pródigo”.
