Abstract

This document sets forth the work that has been done by the National University in implementing and executing diverse actions (both at the standardization level and as institutional policies) that are meant to prevent and attend to violence against women. What the institution means to achieve by this is to contribute to the quality of life of the people who make up the university population and, in turn, have and impact on the social-cultural patterns of people’s living relationships, both in the community of the province of Heredia and in Costa Rican society in general.

It also seeks to contribute to the eradication of prejudices, customs, habits, and any and all practices that are based on inequality, discrimination, and the stereotyped roles that have been assigned to women and to men and that are what have legitimized violence against women. The purpose is to achieve a drop in the use of control and subordination mechanisms.
