Digital preservation policy

Digital preservation policy for the Costa Rican journal of social work

The journal is published and managed thanks to the Open Journal System (OJS) content management system, designed for editorial management of journals. Thanks to this system and its organization, the reception is preserved and managed, it keeps a copy of the different states of the manuscripts, in addition, it houses the results and observations of the reviewers towards the authors.

As preservation measures, the following practices have been adopted:

The OJS system is hosted on the web server provided by the College of Social Workers of Costa Rica, the company in charge of its administration, maintains daily backups and duplicates of the data.

- The platform technician performs weekly backups of manuscripts in editing, articles and the system, these are housed locally. These backups are also duplicated on the web server, in compressed files. Locally, the editor keeps a copy of the manuscripts received, revisions and articles published

- The College of Social Workers maintains a printed archive of the issues published before 2017, from 2017 a digital copy is maintained on the local server of the entity

- This journal uses the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archive system among collaborating libraries, which allows them to create permanent archives of the journal for conservation and restoration purposes
