Abstract

At the beginning of the 20th century, due to the expansion of monopoly capitalism in the configuration of peripheral economies, Latin America demanded a praxis that would intervene in the consequences of the material conditions (objective and subjective) of social reproduction, especially embodied in the most exploited classes; European social service and Anglo-Saxon North American social work were the main platforms that were institutionalized in the region in the face of these devastating transformations.
