Abstract
EI artículo que se expone a continuación contiene un conjunto de planteamientos en torno a la GERENCIA SOCIAL como forma alternativa para mejorar la eficiencia y eficacia en la prestación de servicios sociales.
Concretamente, se enfatiza en la importancia de la GERENCIA SOCIAL para el ejercicio profesional del Trabajo Social, destacando los elementos básicos de dicho modelo alternativo, con el propósito de contribuir a la reflexión en tomo a la urgencia de que esta profesión juegue un papel protagónico en la búsqueda dc opciones estratégicas para enfrentar las consecuencias de la crisis socioeconómica por la que atraviesa Costa Rica en el presente inmediato.
